GEORGE TOWN: Several thousand factory workers in Penang have been ordered to work from home, after one of them was found to have been in close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 patient.
Keysight Technologies and Agilent Technologies, who have a total of 6,000 workers, told their staff to leave the company grounds by 7pm on Wednesday (March 12).
The factories are located next to each other and share the same in-house F&B facility.

Komtar
MIRI: A 53-year old Brunei man, who went to a mosque gathering in Seri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and was in Miri for a shopping spree, has been found to have been infected with Covid-19.Brunei’s health authorities have issued a statement saying they were investigating the current health status of Bruneians who journeyed with the man during this time.
The statement said the man went to the mosque gathering at Masjid Seri Petaling, then flew back to Miri Airport via a flight on March 3.
He then went across the Miri border back to Brunei by land via the Sungai Tujuh immigration checkpoint, 35km north of Miri city.
Then on Mar 6, he travelled again by land to Miri and went on a shopping spree.
The Sarawak State Disaster Relief Committee, in a separate notice, said it was trying to trace those passengers who were seated near the man during the KLIA-Miri Air Asia flight on March 3.
The committee is also trying to find out how many Sarawakians had also gone to the Seri Petaling mosque gathering where the Bruneian man was present.
Those Sarawakians who had attended that mosque event have been urged to immediately report themselves to the nearest government hospital or clinic.

KLANG: The Selangor Health Department is expected to issue a statement on speculation that Covid-19 infection has been detected at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) here.
According to a hospital source, the statement is expected to be issued sometime late this Thursday afternoon (Mar 12).
The source also said the suspected cases had been sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital and Kuala Lumpur Hospital for testing and confirmation of infection.
In a short statement posted on its Facebook page earlier on Thursday (March 12), HTAR said it had taken several measures, given the increase of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia.
The measures taken include reducing the numbers of visitors, prohibiting children under 12 from visiting patients, as well as shortening visiting hours.
However, no mention was made on whether there had been infection amongst its staff.
Meanwhile, several pictures and videos posted in the comment section show hoardes of people in protective gear at one of the hospital floors in the main building.
Those familiar with the hospital could see that it is indeed HTAR.
Comments also claimed that all staff members of Ward 8B had been quarantined, with three of them testing positive for Covid-19.
Selangor health director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman was not available for comment at press time.

KUALA LUMPUR: All mass gatherings should be postponed to minimise the spread of Covid-19, says the Health Ministry.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said those experiencing respiratory infection symptoms were advised not to attend programmes that involved crowded places, including religious activities.
“Those with symptoms are advised to adopt social distancing by standing at least 1m away from another individual,” he said when asked what advice the ministry would give after the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the disease a pandemic on Wednesday (March 11).
The WHO said Italy and Iran were now on the frontline of the disease and other countries would soon join them.
A pandemic, according to the WHO, is when there is a sudden increase in the number of cases all over the world, usually affecting a large number of people.
